I have a Ruger model 77 in 25/06 that is a nice little rifle. I bought it used. Last Deer season I squeezed the forend of the stock while getting it off the ATV and it flexed up around the barrel. It poped back in place when I let go but after looking at it a whle I realized the stock had split at the seam and someone had epoxied it back.

Apparently the epoxy failed.

How is the best way to repair this? I was thinking of milling a Groove across the seam and filling it with epoxy as well as gluing the seam.

There is an epoxy specifically for those type of materials. They are found in Auto Parts stores.
Their principle use is for repairing dashboards.
Look at the adhesive rack in the store.
Otherwise, you will have to consider getting another stock.
