I have been on the fence about getting into swaging. If I do it I'd like to swage bullets that has the same profile as swiss surplus gp11 ammo. I would want a 180 grain bullet if possible. Gp11 is 174 grain bullet. I'd use them for hunting. How feasible is this? The other bullet is for my 357 mag and I am sure that is an easy one to do.

Don't think BT's 308's would work for the K31 too well. It needs a Berger VLD profile to work right. The K31 has almost no leade. If it does, it is because it has been shot a lot and is worn.

I have used .308 bullets made by remington, sierra and hornady all shot good. I know the berger vld work but figure if I am going to jump in to swaging I'd like to be able to swage bullets that have the same profile as the gp11 surplus rounds. My k31 shoot them the best.

They will work. But you will just have to seat them very deep into the case.

I know abut setting the bullet deeper. is anyone that makes a swage die that will make it the same profile as the gp11 ammo?

We'll I would have to look up the GP11 profile. What do you know about it as far as it's deminsions? Ogive s# and all that good stuff?

Here is a standard Sierra Match King (top) next to a bullet formed in my swage die (bottom) to give an idea of the ogive shape of my dies.

Here is a pic of the bullet. It is the second from the left. The problem with the bullet is in front of the crimp grove. If I remember right, it measures .300" This is why the bullets have to seated so deep when you use another type of bullet. Also the bullets are .307'' I have slugged 3 of them and 1 was .3065" but the other 2 were 307" But everyone shoots .308" without problems. If you can find a profile of the Berger 175 VLD, it is as close as you will find.

If you had a few samples BTSniper, could you reproduce the GP11 profile?
