yep, cant see why not shot that is .. not the slug ,it will not compress good enough and may cause exessive pressure blowing your barrel

I thought that I had seen zinc or zinc plated bird shoot somewhere so I was just wondering if I could use it up some way. I might have to get a buckshot mold just to try it out.

your buck shot mold is AL zinc and Al molds dont work good together . zinc melts at about 800 and Al at about 1100 so you are going to get sticking. and even Kroil dont work up in that temp range
as you said
zinc PLATED shot

I casted up some zinc wheel weight slugs in my lee mold, worked fine. shot fine also. I only use them in lower velocity paper punching rounds.

I melted 8 lbs. of Zinc Wheel Weights in my inexpensive Lee pot. It did fine set around 9. Only problem was the clips sank instead of floating. If you had a bottom pour you could just leave them, pour it all, and then dump them out in the end.

I haven't casted anything with Zinc yet, just ingots.

Turkey cooker will work fine. I have smelted Zn ww's and Zn lamps, Zn off of carboraters, window cranks, and a few other things. The ww's smelted the cleanest of all. Just gotta fish around for them clips. I've been stockpiling Zn, waiting on the libs to ban lead sinkers. If that ever happens, I'll have my foot in the door of a lot of baitshops. Good luck, Tom
