I found an old box of Winchester Super-Speed .22 Shorts the other day with the H headstamp. I know Winchester used to use the H (for Henry) on their rimfire cartridges, but when did they quit using it? This box looks to be from the 60's, yellow box with a big red W. The only thing I can find that looks like a lot number is BM8.

I have been shooting .22's since the early 1970's and most of the Winchester cartridges I can recall had either a W of the Super X headstamp.

Thanks for the help,

Robert

I think your box is older than the 60's. I have been shooting WW since the early 60's and don't remember that box. The shotgun boxes I have like that are feom the mid 50's I think, but I am not an expert either. I am just old!!

AFAIK, Winchester honored Tyler Henry with the "H" headstamp for over 100 years, after introducing the Model 1866 Rifle.

I know I bought Winchester/Western .22 RF ammo with the "H" headstamp in the late 60's-early 70's.
