Got a chance to take my first boolits to the range today. Ideal 358416 sized to .358 using Micro Lube.

I was developing a load for my Official Police so I loaded ten rounds each of different powder charges. 4.2 to 4.8 grs of Unique. Boolit weighed in at 155 grains and I used CCI 500 primers.

Here is the target after firing all 40 rounds, center hold, at 50 feet. They started low left and came back into the center as the powder charge increased.

4.6 seemed to be the sweet spot. Of course my tired old eyes were the limiting factor.

Isn't it great when you get to shoot your home rolled boolits?
I had the opportunity to test shoot some 180 grain loads for my 40 S&W yesterday, they were loaded with 5.2 grains of unique.
At 25 yards at the police range they grouped about 3 inches.I need to shoot this Browning Hi-Power a lot more.

Congratulations BigRix. It's a great feeling to cast, load and shoot a round you made. It's even more fun when it works as yours did.

Yep, kinda gives ya the warm fuzzies don't it. I recently developed a load for a neighbor ladies mdl. 15, it went the other way, most accurate ended up right at 4gr.

It is always nice ( though I get a bit jealous at times) to see someone who can walk the talk, and shoot as well as they cast.

That's great! [smilie=s:
Nice to walk the POI into the center too.
Now go make more boolits, you are hooked, hook, line and sinker! [smilie=w:

A small ball of aluminum foil with a touch of lube to hold it will fill the nose punch and prevent those marks when sizing. Or JB weld will make a permanent fix.

YES isn't it great when you shoot your own boolits. better yet when you out shoot someone with the high dollar ammo that is suppose to make the shoot so great........

Now did you dig 'em back out of the berm so you can re-use 'em ?

Well there is no berm at my indoor range but I did score some brass. The rule is that you can pick up your brass but not anything that has made it into the cans. I was shooting revolvers so none of the brass on the floor was mine but the guy who was shooting that lane before me was kind enough to leave his empties for me. Even got some Tulammo .45 ACP steel case that I want to try out. I figure I got at least a couple of bucks worth of brass to offset the cost of my range trip.

When you reload those Tula cases, make sure you lube them, even if using carbide dies! I've reloaded some Tula steel cases without any problems.
