I flew in to San Diego on July 17 my son met me there and we went back to the barracks and visited.
Not wanting to spend a lot of money, and not having any place to stay for the night I stayed in my son's room in the barracks. (!?!)

The next morning I decided to make myself scarce. I got on the motorcycle that I'd sent to Luke a few weeks before and went into town - Oceanside and seeing the sights. I had a few days to kill before Luke actually got out of the Marines. While doing that I called Tom ADC on the phone and asked to visit, Tom's a great person and has a wonderful wife.

Still not having a place to stay Tom offered to have me stay the night at his house. I think he mad the offer when I asked about finding a place in the hills and camping out for a night or two. Tom said that I may have problems with illegals camping in the hills.

I left Toms the next morning and stopped at Cafe 101 in Oceanside. It was very pleasant just setting and watching the traffic and people go by while I had breakfast.

As luck would have it while setting there I got a phone call from the shipping company telling me my other motorcycle had arrived. I called Luke and told him and he said he would see if he could get off work a few hrs. early so, we could get the bike before it closed.

Luke made arrangements for me to stay in the Base campgrounds for two days. to keep me from wandering the country side and dodging illegals :Fire: who think they have a greater right to be there than I did.

The night before he was discharged he went out with a bunch of his friends and had a good by event, with a good meal and a few drinks.
I had a couple of beers and it was one more than I should have had, I like to set "one" as the limit.:drinks:

The next morning I broke camp packed up and went to Luke's barracks and helped him pack for the trip home.

So glad you had a good trip and made it safely home. I am sure it was one of those memorable times for both you and your son. Treasure it.
