$2,500 "buy now", and a $2,200 start level? Seems awfully high to me, but I don't understand "collector-speak" well at all.

My nephew seems to have lost interest in the 336 action build-up idea that he got from me--if he returns it, it will (as if by magic) become a 38-55 with half-magazine similar to the Big Bore in the auction pic. And, yes, "need" has nothing to do with it.

This past deer season--and the critters seen during same--reinforced the idea that 95% of the deer I've ever seen locally could be grassed with a 30-30 or caliber of like capability. This year's critter fell to the 6.5 x 55, but that much power was not required--the 25-35 could have done as well, and a 38-55 with lower velocity could cause less blood-shot meat. The old '73 x 44-40 in the gun safe has taken more deer than all the rifles I ever owned and then some, and from the same area. The more I think on it, the more useful and enjoyable those old hyphenated Winchester and Marlin rounds become.

Ditto on the 7-30 waters.

Hey Ben, what does your saeco .358 250 cast out at? I just now used mine and it barely casts .358..

That wood should be on my .356 Win. :drinks:

And I have a friend who spent that much on a 1911 last year.... That .45 is nice, but this Lever would be really sweet...................

I'd settle for a real nice '73 that I could afford...unfortunately, those two terms are mutually exclusive....I wonder how much the USFA '73 will go for?......and if it'll be a real 100% machined barstock made-in-USA gun like their later sixguns.....I can only hope.....

Redding recently re-tooled for the SAECO 352. My new mold casts .3595" un-shimmed, and .3605" shimmed. Boolits weigh 244 grains in my BHN 14-15 metal. 352's cut before the re-tooling were very sloppy and Hornady checks crimped on with a .360" die would spin on the shank.

Before you guys get to feelin too sorry for, "Poor ol Pat", let me tell you how he got me.

I once told Pat to pick up a can of some powder for some discussion we were having, and Pat told me it was 164 miles to the closest town could I please try another powder on the computer for him.

What he didn't tell me was that 152 miles of that distance was to his front security gate.

The US is petitioning him to become the 51st state.

OK now I'm somewhat perplexed.

I got out my mic and checked my dial calipers and they are accurate. Out of 60 some boolits 7- cast at .360 and weighted 247gr, 4 cast at .356-7 and 243gr, and the rest at .358 or a hair under, about 244gr average.

All of these boolits filled out. Whilst casting- one of the cavities had a hard time filling at the base, but I think it was due to my pour technique, and seemed to switch when I switched from front to back, to back to front.

This is with ACWW. WHAT?...

Now if old BA John says, "Before you guys get to feelin too sorry for Poor ol Pat being perplexed, cause he's really a rocket scientist"... don't buy it for a minute. BA's a frustrated custom gunsmith that gets to work on all kinds of REAL expensive guns, but he never gets to shoot any of them so he just comes here and flames on innocent guys like me...

Pay him no mind.. [smilie=1:
