I have a little of over 1000 and can't use them! I also have no idea what they are valued at? Would some one please PM me on their worth?

What the heck I'm interested. You got some dimensions of the jackets? Weight?

Never seen a 22 cal half jacket bullet before but anything is possible. Do people use gas checks on 22 cal cast boolits?

I've got a bullet mold in .22 caliber that uses gas checks. It's a cute little bullet, but I haven't found a use for it yet.... I also have some .22 caliber gas checks for it.

Hope this helps.

Those may work in the herter/sas/ch half-jacket dies -

225107, 225415, 225450,225462 and 22596 are all gas check bullets -- 37 to 62 grains

I will try to measure them, when i get home from work. Maybe they are something else?
Could these be unloaded Percussion or Musket caps????????

Yes, Brian, we do use gas checks on 22 caliber bullets. I recently received group buy mold for a .224 cast bullet (55 grain), and the design is gas checked. I bought a FreeChex III punch set to make the gas checks for them from .010 aluminum sheet. Gas checks for bullets are much shorter than what I see in the bag of "half jackets".

Old Herter's 9 ton swage press/dies used .22 half jackets to make a spire pointed .22 . I never had the jackets when I had the press, tried derimmed .22 short cases, seem to remember they were a little long "as issued".

Not to belabor this, but it is my opinion these are half-jacket cups for use in the old herter/ch and other 7/8-14 dies. The cup is not intended to form a nose. I think they may also be a bit thicker walled than full jacket cups.

They might work Ok for a 17 cal if you reduced them first.
