I took the leavings of my smelting to the scrapyard today to see what I could get for them. This consisted of the jackets from bullets I had melted that had passed the magnet test so I knew they weren't steel and steel jackets mixed with other assorted magnetic junk. And also some solid copper slugs that I had accumulated. After convincing the operators that the slugs were not lead they gave me $3 a lb for the copper, $2 a LB for the jackets which they listed as plumbers brass for some reason. they did have what looked like solder on them so that was acceptable to me. and $.125 for the miscellaneous steel. I was a happy camper, the jacket material is worth more per lb than the lead which is the part that I wanted. I have seen it for myself.
