I was wondering if anybody has any loads using Unique, Power Pistol or AA5744 with a 100-grain cast boolit?

Thanks,

Steve

I know this is an old post, but I'm hoping Yancy is still around. I'd love to hear about your "go to" load.

Using Red Dot in mine with the Lee .311 93 grain. It however is not ideal, nose should be longer and thinner to avoid chambering issues.

I would also like some info on these loads, if anyone cares to share.

I have worked up loads in 7.62x25mm Tokarev or 30 Mauser.
S&B brass is slightly stronger than Starline brass and has the same capacity, but before the primer pocket can get loose in Starline brass there will be too much recoil in a Tokarev, CZ52, or C96 Mauser.
I have built rifles in this cartridge, and they are different.
The CZ52 has a very thin chamber and the metal hardness varies widely from RC25 to RC47. Some are tough, some will blow up with factory ammo.
With 110 gr bullets, I have worked up loads to brass destruction with Bullseye, Power Pistol, AA#9, Enforcer [within 1% of being same thing as AA#9], N105, and Longshot.
With H110 and LIL'GUN I cannot reach the limit of the brass before the case is too full.

Lately I have been shooting Missouri Bullet coated cast bullets 110 gr 30 carbine with Bullseye.
It will take at least 3 gr to cycle a Tokarev action and 6.8 gr will cause a Starline case to expand 0.001" at the extractor groove.
Somewhere between those two charges is a sweet spot. I chose 5.8 gr and loaded hundreds of rounds. That may be too much recoil for some.

I have only shot groups at 100 yards with a rifle with S&B factory 85 gr jacketed, and typically got 5 moa.

Thanks Clark. I was just asking myself this question today as I found three boxes of old Hornady 110 gr 30 Carbine pills hiding in a cabinet.

AA#7 is good with the heavier boolits in 7.62X25.

Good luck finding AA#7 these days. I'd snap it up if I could find it on the shelf.

Wow !! This has been a while . Let me look back in my load data and see what i can find. One of the members here on the board gave me a helping hand( Along with several others) with different loads for the 7.62x25 round. I tried a lot of powders but always ended up going back to the good old Unique.
