I have not cast in a long while, but may start again, soon. My question is: will my 45 luber work on 30 cal bullets,as well as a 4500? It is in 99% good shape! I don't want to buy a new one,i won't be shooting that much.
Will all the sizer dies and top punches fit it [Lyman brand]? What problems can i watch for, with it?
To tell the truth,i always pan lubed and used a cookie cutter! After i got it,the 45[used] i quit casting,so i never tried to use it! Heck, the plastic model 45 sticker is still on it!!!!!
How can i clean the old lube out of it??
Thanks for any help,
Willyp

Boil it, if you want to clean the whole thing,
otherwise I use a heat gun to warm the reservior
to get the old lube out.
All Lyman type dies and top punches will work in the 45.

keep the pressure as low as possible when lubing,
that will solve many lubing problems.
Look to Bullshop or White label for lubes.

I prefer my 45 to my 450 and from what I hear the 450 was better than the 4500. Just don't try and use the 45 as a "bumper". The handle is the weak link IME.

All the RCBS/Lyman dies and TP will fit fine. Your old lube is probably still good, just warm the sizer with a blow drier or heat gun and size away.

The 45 will serve you fine for 30 caliber.
