I have 2 1894 Marlins, a 357 Remlin I bought new. And a 44 pre-safety I bought used. I noticed that the 44 got hard to load and that the mag. tube had worked forward. I pushed it back and tightened the barrel band, as well as the front sight ramp. After about 10 shots it had worked forward again. Closer inspection it looks like there is something missing between the barrel and mag.

The 357 has a screw that runs through the tip of the mag with a point that runs into a small dimple in the barrel. Shooting 38s it never moved, but 357s now it moved ahead also and the screw looks bent rearward. I'm taking them to a smith Monday just wonder if anyone else had this happen.
Thanks

Through the years i've owned 5 1894's in 357, and probably 8-10 in .44M and that is a new one to me!
I would think the screws were loose to begin with, that will sure let things get slammed around and bent.

Thanks for the reply. The smith thought the 357's barrel band wasn't tight enough from the factory. And I didn't check it. The 44 that I bought used has been rattling around for a long time. It may need a new mag. tube. Where the bolt goes through the barrel band between the barrel and mag. tube the tube is battered.
