Just picked up 4 of these big ingots. Not sure what justice the pics will bring. They are stamped 5% Sb. I melted one of them into 1lb ingots and took one of them to the scrapyard to be tested (wont know the results for a week or so). It seems way to hard for sinker making. According to the link at the bottom of the page, its just 5% tin from being Lyman #2. What do you guys think of this stuff?

That would be a terrific known starting point for alloying. Good score on some hard lead.

What do I think? I think that you have better luck than I usually do!

Verify content, then go for it. Lyman #2 seems like a good target with just some Solder to get you there if it is 5% Sb, 95% Pb.

Great find! Also, really pretty stuff!

I would just add 2% tin and make a poor-man's Hardball.

I also picked up 480lbs of racecar weights. Smelted them in batches and took a sample from each batch to the scrapyard to be tested also. I'm pretty sure it was slightly contaminated with zinc as I poured a little acid on some of it and got a few small bubbles. That was the first time I used the acid test so I need the testing results before I do anything else with it. If they both come back clean I will be listing them both in the swappin and sellin. Plan on using that money to place a add in another newspaper and really get some pure lead.

It looks Bootiful!
Probably more than a lifetime of Boolits.

4 x 75 = 300 pounds of metal (Alloy).
58.33 Boolits per pound. (My current ratio, 120 grain 30 caliber)
= 17,499 boolits. [smilie=w::veryconfu
