hello all. I am getting ready to cast my first boolits on Monday or Tuesday. I want to make sure I have everything covered and do as well as I can for a rook.

I will be wearing a face shield, gloves, long sleeves and pants.
I have piles of WW ingots which are going in a 20lb Lee pot. I am going to flux with pine sawdust which I plan to light on fire after I put it on top of the molten lead. From there I have a hot plate to pre heat my mould from Miha. Since I am using a 50 cal mould and making boolits for my muzzle loader I will not be sizing the rounds. I will be using sabots.

I plan on... WEARING SAFETY GEAR
1. melting the lead
2. preheating my mould
3. adding sawdust and lighting it
4. pouring in and let cool for a few seconds
5. dump boolits and get a good rhythm going

What am I missing?
thanks
micky

Dumping the dross BEFORE casting boolits.

I have a bottom pour pot. I thought I was supposed to leave the ash on top.

You still should skim off your dross. Scrape sides and bottom of your melting pot. Drop boolits on a folded up towel to prevent damage to them. Good luck :cbpour:
