I'm seconding #7 on the first list. Tanfoglio combo .41 AE/9mm. The gun is a piece of genuis, knock off from the CZ75 for sure, but the .41 AE conversion puts it in another ballpark. My .41 AE is a cb shooter. But you should see me scrounging back up my brass! Last time I saw it for sale it was a buck a pop! Starline won't listen to me and won't make it.

S&W models 16 , 17 , 18 made like the four or five screw quality and no locks with a five inch barrel option on all of them .

After reading what NoZombies got started about .32's how about a model 31 with a four or five inch barrel and adjustable sights ?

OK , one more I got a soft spot for carbon steel forty-fours and I'd like to see a comeback of the model 29 ...... no locks .

I am with theperfessor on the S&W Model 58 but it should also be made available in .44Special, .44Magnum, .45 ACP, 10MM, and .45Colt as well as the original .41 Magnum! :)

Might as well throw in a Model 520 in .357Magnum too ! :)

No lock, no MIMM, forged hammer/trigger ! All should be available in 3" as well as 4" !

Round butt Model 58s in 10MM and .45ACP would be great selling guns ! :)

You have a point. It seems like every manufacturer is cranking out autoloaders as fast as they can, and most of them are starting to look the same. Almost like cars.

Tooling up a complete assembly line for a product is horribly expensive, so they'd have to do a careful market study and see how it pencils out.

Smith and Wesson has responded with their "Classic" line (wonderful) but I'd sure like to see the little New Departure again. Does Colt still make the 1873 "Peacemaker"? I haven't looked at their offerings for years.

I noticed an FIE 9mm/41 AE combo peeking out at me from the safe when I was looking for 40 S&W mags for my new Witness Classic the other day. The 41 AE mags work for 40 S&W and vice versa. I also had the IPSC special in 41AE, but a buddy made me an offer I couldn't refuse.

I also have three Lyman four cavity moulds re cut for a 41AE-165-TCBB. Was only supposed to be two, but a bit of miscommunication and I ended up with three. The third was supposed to be a 10mm which would have weighed 150/155 grains.

Also cut two four cavity 40-145-TCPB at the same time.

Factory ammo for the 41AE is now going for $3.50 to $5.50 per round and brass is at $2.00 per round!

I have to enthusiastically second “Grapeshot’s” suggestion: …….The Webley Mark 6 needs to be made again!!

http://i949.photobucket.com/albums/ad334/sockmeister/pix655239280.jpg

If done in modern, heat treated steel, this classic top-break design would be VERY capable of handling non-magnum calibers like .45 ACP, .45 Colt and .44 Special.

……And unless you have spent some time with a Webley and .45 ACP in “Full Moon Clips”, ….you really don’t know what FAST revolver reloads are all about!

Three of those moulds are too many...

...you need to sell one.;-)

I have had some good luck buying up some ammunition and brass at less than ridiculous prices, but until someone figures out a way to get somebody to make new brass, the prices will only go up.

I really think that the strength of this cartridge is in a combo set such as yours, since a person can switch barrels easily, which of course can't be done between 9mm and 40 S&W.

Steyr GB? Really? Huh.

Don't know who's actually running Ruger these days, but their products seem to be all over the map; I don't really expect anything important or interesting from Colt, they've been moribund for years. S&W, OTOH, might make some really interesting stuff-if the market is sufficient. Every manufacturer is all about the bottom line--I'll buy the first Model "58" off the line in .45LC, but it ain't gonna happen. Oh, and since we're fantasizing anyway, I'll take a Model 16, too, preferably in .32 H&R.

Correction: 5-shot .38S&W or 6-shot .32

I suspect my Iver johnson .32 Safety Hammerless was reamed out to take the .32 ACP cartridge.
The chambers are much longer than the .32 S&W calls for.
This came in handy when I built up some Black Powder rounds for this little revolver using cut down .32 H&R Mag cases.
The modern .32 S&W case would not have held enough BP to make much of a load. The longer trimmed down H&R cases held just enough powder under a sized round ball to give decent velocity.

When I first got this pocket revolver it was a basket case, the frame lugs were badly deformed, probably from a previous owner firing FMJ .32 ACP ammo through it.
I was able to reshape the lugs and tighten it back up.

Another oldie but goody would be the Remington Model 51 .380 ACP with Pederson hestitation locking system.
The Pederson lock was used for a .45 ACP test model, so it seems to do its job well enough so long as maximum chamber pressure isn't too high.

In my dream spread of discontinued guns there would be a Model 16 S&W with 6" barrel to stand between the Model 35 and the Triple Lock in 44 Special (also with a 6" barrel.) Just to be sure there was no confusion, I would specify forged frames and internal parts and real wooden grips, with no lock, of course. If they decided to put a post-War hammer block in the TL, it would be OK, though.

For Colts, there would be a New Service Target in 45 Colt, a 70 Series Gold Cup (45 ACP, of course) with a Navy-built 22 "Zip Gun" conversion - like a Kart, only better) and just to round things out, a 1st Generation Single Action in 32-20.

Then I would have a Model 102 High Standard Citation, an original type Ruger Flat Top in 357 with factory ivories, a first edition type T-C Contender with a nice assortment of 10" octagon barrels, and an original design Browning High Power.

Then come the rifles and shotguns... ;)

Smith & Wesson, ARE YOU LISTENING?????

I have one of these S&W 631, It would be the last gun I'd ever get rid of.

Colt Police Positive in a .32 cal cartridge.
Colt New Service .45 LC
S&W New Departure (Lemonsqueezer) in .22LR !!!
S&W Mod 30, .32 S&W Long

I'd be near the front of the line for a Lemonsqueezer in .22. My .32S&W gets used a lot as a kit gun, and a new one in .22 would have the other one used MUCH less.

I second the request for an affordable revolver manufacturer to make small plinkin guns again.

I would love to see the H&R 999 brought back.

I would love to see some new manufacture top breaks.

1.) SP-101 in 9mm Para
2.) Redhawk in .357 Magnum
3.) Security-Six (.357M, naturally)
4.) S&W 696 in .44 Special

Now, I would also suggest that Ruger come out with a version of the Security-Six in .44 Special, maybe a 5-shot like the S&W 696.

Two that I have a soft spot for...
US Army Model 1909 (better if chambered for 45Colt instead of the arsenal modified cartridge).
St. Etienne Model 1892 (the original cartridge is great as a .33 Special even if you have to make the brass).

I think they should do the 1911 again. Ah shucks, I'm alittle late.
Ok, my next one is the S&W K22, ah shucks. I'm late again.
Seriously though, I think most good handgun designs live today.
For the sake of shooting history, I would like to see Lugers and Broomhandles that I could afford. I wouldn't defend my household with them, but they would be fun anyway.

I'll buy the first Model "58" off the line in .45LC, but it ain't gonna happen.

I'm not really "up" on Smith stuff but,,,,,,, IIRC the 58 was an N frame for the 41. Isn't the 25 the same gun in .45? I have also seen guys wishing for a "58 in 44 Special/Mag". Isn't that already on the market as the 29?

Someone enlighten me as to the subtle differences that I seem to be overlooking.

Stevie, Don't know why you would want the Ballester Molina back Nice gun but is not completely 1911 though some parts will fit. With the popularity of the 1911 and all the companies making them now there is no reason to make an other BM unless you have one and now want easy to get parts. I had one good gun but I prefer the 1911 better.

True but I was thinking of the Winchester 1873 rifle. One of those as a shorty carbine in .22lr would be fantastic.

come on guys what about the medusa 47??? that was awesome!!

http://www.kitsune.addr.com/Firearms/Revolvers/Medusa_Model_47.htm

it chambers fires and extracts something like 28 different currently manufactured cartridges.

i would love to have one of these.. too bad they go for thousands now. if i saw one for $1k i would drop the card and make it mine in the blink of an eye. just a few years back they could still be had for $1K. should have jumped on one then!

+1 on the Colt Python

Also the .22 Diamondback

Second the Diamondback. I didn't feel I could afford one years ago when they were $550 and I was making 5 bux an hour. Now they're collectors items going for $1500 or so.

Would it still be a handgun if it had wheels and a tripod? Your wrists must be bigger than mine.

If your going to have a 3 1/2" cylinder, just go straight to the .600 NE to wrap around the 10 ga. Now THAT is a revolver Elmer (peace be unto him) would have liked.:bigsmyl2:

I will add another vote for the Colt 1903 pocket hammerless. My wife owns one and it is by far the most beautiful gun we own. Too bad she doesn't shoot it much, but once in a while I sneak it out of the gun cabinet to exercise the old girl (the pistol, not the wife).

I'm going to put in a second for the Zytel XP-100 (I owned one of those, original .221 Fireball chambering -- the only thing I'd have wanted to change was to have a magazine), expand the long Dan Wesson list to include any Dan Wesson with interchangeable barrels (I've got a Model 15, .357 Magnum, but only the 6" barrel, and barrels are getting hideously expensive) -- they could add interchangeable cylinders, too, to let the .357 version fire 9 mm (the whole family that use the same head, from 9x19 through 9x23, Wildey Mag, etc.), and .44/45 on one frame with a third cylinder covering .45 ACP and its powered up cousins. I'll also second the High Standard Double Nine (with both cylinders), and Webley Mk IV or Mk VI (with metallurgy upgrades to handle full power .45 ACP), and add the Beretta Jetfire (.25 ACP version) to the list.

No, I couldn't begin to afford any of these made new, now, except possibly the Double Nine -- but there's always Powerball...
