Last time I was at the "scrapper" picking up roofing lead I came across an apx. 2 pound coil of solder. I don't even know if it has lead in it or not but it was in with the lead and I tossed it into my box.

How do you folks think I should treat it for alloying purposes. Consider it 50% tin? I'm not really sure and was hoping ya'll could lend some advise.

I'd figure out what it is, then use it accordingly!

1.) Cast a bullet from pure Lead.
2.) Using the same mold cast a bullet from your unmodified mystery metal.

They will be the same volume so, based on the weights you can figure out what it is using the density of Lead vs Tin! The results will be close enough to determine actual Lead/Tin content though there may be a bit of something else in the mix.

Let me know if you need help with the math.

Thanks. Might be a few weeks before I do any casting but I will need some help on the math.
