Has anyone heard of a 6.8SPC re-chambered to use a necked down 7-30 case?

You can get 6.8mm SPC barrels for the Condender.

The 6.8 SPC's parent case is the 30 Remington. The 30 Remington is a rimless 30-30 Winchester. That would, in effect, make the 6.8 a rimless .270-30 short.

You should be able to make a rimmed 6.8 SPC by using a 6.8 barrel and a .30-30 extractor and reload with a .30-30 shellholder.

You would also have to cut a relief in the chamber for the rim. It would be similar to Arthur Browns U.S. series of cartridges which was based on a 219DW. Very efficient line of cartridges, shot a 7mmUS for a little while until I got stoopid and sold the barrel.

sounds very much like a 30 herret to me I had one years ago and all it is is a cut down 30-30 shell and very efficient to in a Contender

My question is why? What would that do for you really?

Sounds more like a copy of a 270 Rocket, which is a 225 opened up to .270" One of the family of cartridges Jim Rock made for the Merrill(XL Pistol) 25 Rocket/270 Rocket/7 Rocket & 30 Merrill.

Allow you to make a ballistic twin to the 6.8 SPC but be able to form it using cheap, bountiful 30-30 brass.
