Does anyone know the type of valves on the throway propane bottles? Are they Shroeder valves as in AC systens or valves as used in tires or ?

Pressure Relief. Not for filling.

Not a clue, been refilling mine weekly, for 13 years, never touched the valves.

The fill valve works the same as a Shroeder valve but is constructed differently.
The vent/pressure relief valve is entirely different.

If you have a leaky valve , just throw the cylinder away. For refilling you need not mess with the valves except to vent the relief valve in which case you pull the stem to vent then you will likely have to tap it back into a seated position so it won't seep.
