A local shop has a marlin in 32-20 in almost new condition, I've been considering making a trade to get it, but I don't know what the value of such a piece really is.

Any thoughts?

Them Marlins are gettin somewhat pricy. Check sold auctions on Gunbroker.com
Glad I got the bunch I have when I did, couldn't afford them at todays prices.

If you can hold out and only are going to be using iron sights, I would opt for a Winchester '92. A few hundred more and you have a rifle that is a cut above. I have a '92 and a couple of Marlins but that Winchester functions so much better than the Marlins! JAOBOE (Just An opinion based on experience).

What is that shop asking for that '94? That would help us to be able to say whether it is a buy or not.

Good morning
A pawn shop probably paid from 30-50% of the asking price you are looking at... maybe even less depending on the need of the previous seller.
If they are asking $500 I would start the hagle at $250 and go from there.

I have one I'll be selling in the near future so I'd be interested to find out too.

I just bought a well used one for $600 and you guys always seem to get everything for about half the price we have to pay over here.

Whatever you have to pay, it won't be wasted, the 32-20 is a great shooting little gun. I've only taken mine to the range once so far and I'm pretty sure it will become my favorite shooter.

I sold my 1894 cl in 32/20 about 8 months ago, it was like new for $400

Well, it's a gun shop, not a pawn shop, and I found out the gun is on consignment, so I have to make a deal with the owner, through the shop... trading looks like it might not be an option.

The price on the gun now is $550, and it's a bit more than I want to pay for a gun that isn't quite what I'm looking for. Now, if it was in .32 magnum... I'd be all over it.

At the prices that Marlins in general and the 1894 CLs iin particular are going for this one at $550 is a very good price! If it were near me it would be mine! BTW, you can hand load the 32-20 to way out do the 32 mag.

I second the (buy it)! I borrowed a friends at a cowboy silhouette match the other day, it shot like a laser with laser cast 115's and 5gr. of uniqe. I was match winner with that rifle for the day and a few days later he found me one for sale from an estate with a few spots on the exterior of the barrel, but a like new bore. I payed $550, they are getting harder to find every day, and are great shooters, with starline brass.

I'd have bought that in a heart beat when I was looking for a32-20. I bought a Browning 53instead, but paid 150 bucks more. Heck, I'd buy it today, were I near to the shop.

I paid $595 more for my Marlin CL in 32-20 but it had not fired a box of shells and the box and shell were included in the price. It was also a DU commerative. It shoots very well with the Lee 120 grain 30 cal rifle bullets and the factory bullets. They are not easy rifles to find and few opportunities to get one.

Saw one on Gunbroker, $625. I'd say it is a good deal, wish it were mine.

$550 is a very good price if it is in nice shape. I really like mine, but I'm a .32-20 nut. I even like the little Spanish .32-20 revolvers. :)
