Gorilla Glue worked the best for me on a lag bolt in a stripped wooden furniture leg.

It's a little pricey, but I haven't found anything that will bond wood, metal, or both together like this stuff. I use grey (white is for fiberglass).

Try using "ZAP CA". It'll glue anything togeather.

I have used epoxy to glue most everything together. IF it is prepped properly I know of no stronger adhesive. JB Weld is epoxy. There are diferent compounds depending on the properties you desire. An internet search will net qall the info you need.

epoxy. just ask anyone who didn't get enough release agent on the action when glass bedding. And no, so far I have not been That Guy!

Epoxy works but you need to roughen the metal because it is just a mechanical bond.

2nd vote for Acraglass!

Once on you'll need to burn the wood off the metal!

Acraglas is the ticket for me, prefer the gel unless you need real flowability.
Marinetex is also up there as a quality epoxy.

Even with enough release agent it can be fun and games getting some actions out of the stock.

My advice? Don't try. Wood moves, metal doesn't. Any bond between wood and metal will eventually fail. The best you can do is mechanically fasten it (bolt, screw, etc.) and use something to seal the joint. Unless you are in the desert and there is never any humidity above about 12% wood will move.

Epoxy is best, extremely clean surface, and roughened if you can, will help.

Acraglass is a strong epoxy, and I have had good results with JB Weld, a filled epoxy
product. The 5-minute epoxies are not anywhere near as strong in the long run, they
absorb water and weaken.
