I got one of these for Christmas. Anybody else? I would be interested in other people's assessment of it. I was not totally impressed with it. I found a number of mistakes in the formula section. Some things were of interest to me, and well covered. Other things were covered in such a cursory manner that I wondered why they bothered -- the section on optics is a good example of this. I think they weren't sure who their readership would be. For me, the technical level was aimed too low on most things. It will never replace Hatcher's Notebook, either for content or for readability. This is the NRA, for heaven's sake. The book should be authoritative.

I am in agreement. Could be a whale of a lot better, more authoratative, and much more complete. Not written with the quality of a lot of the old NRA pubs.

IMHO...and I've been an NRA member since 1960...very little published by the NRA today, including "American Rifleman" is anywhere near the quality of the "old NRA pubs."
