got a 5 ib lead block that has an ad for Jersey Power Company on it. I tested the hardness with the "pencil ' test It is scratched with a 4H pencil. Harder than linotype. Could it be Monotype?:violin:

It may be sterotype? Never heard of it. Blend it with pure lead to hardened up

Linotype and monotype are what you usually run into for printing! Ive never found any sterotype. mono is harder than lino . I have a stash of both.

I have a bunch of printer block with veneer ads and patterns attached to them. Mine tested positive for Zinc. Be careful. Here is a thread from another member

Individual letters can also be foundry type.

Yes. Beware printers blocks that look like a thin (1/8 inch) layer laminated to a thicker, machined base layer (1/2 inch). Almost always zinc.
