Anyone have an idea of what an M1 carbine made by Underwood in 1943 in 90% condition is worth? This is my brother in law's and he bought it in 1960 so if it was reworked it would have been done in the USA. Blue book shows it at $400-450 but I am not sure what the market will bear on something like this. He is in the market for a pistol and I am working a trade with him.

No import marks , unsanded wood , and likely has the postwar type rear sight and bayonet lug upgrade, I've seen them around the $800 mark with your condition as you state and the postwar features I noted. It all a subjective guess anyhow sight unseen and especially right now as th emarket is soft on selling unless you have a real superb peice that heavy hitters would be willing to go hard for.

CMP was selling "Service rifle" grade Carbines for $595 plus shipping. They are currently out of them. If your rifle is in this condition, your rifle is worth +$600 IMO.

I've seen them in the abovementioned $600-800 range. Since importation of M1 Carbines has halted, the price is going up. They're definitely worth more than BB at this time. CMP prices do not apply to private - or retail, for that matter - sales.
