Not many sizer dies to choose from! The only thing i see is the RCBS .476" No Lyman and no Lee. How are you guys doing it? I havent had a lot of luck making straight boolits when sizing base first and use a lee push through for sizing everything that needs sized followed by lubing in an oversize Lyman die. The Lymans seem to have a more grqdual entry than the RCBS sizer dies and help prevent crookedness.

The .476 sizer works just fine along with the RCBS 400 grain boolit, wish it were more than a single cavity though.

I use the RCBS .476 die to size a modified version of the RCBS 400 and a WFN 400 LBT. So far I have had no problems.

Lee will make a push through at .476" for you. Price is decent.

I just got off the phone with them (Lee). $35 shipped. Normal lead time is 3wks, but they said right now 3-6wks.

Thank you.

I have a FA and a Linebaugh built 475 and the 476 works great in the linebaugh. It works ok in the FA gun but is borderline tight. I need to get a 475 die for my star. Just havent got around to doing it. Another thing we ran into that makes me want one is that between my buddy and I we have 6 500 linebaughs and every one of them does better with 511 then they do with 512 so its just possible that the 475 bullets might shine in both guns.

Do you guys have any idea what top punch might fit on the Lee 400gr? Nothing on the castpics.net reference list. Guess I could grind one flat. The RCBS boolit looks like it has a smaller nose on it.

That's crazy, Lee only charged $22 when I bought my size die. Got it in a week.
Use a large enough top punch, clean it good, wax a boolit nose and fill the punch with JB Weld or epoxy. Set them together straight and let harden. Clean it up and you have a perfect fit.
I forgot to tell you I use the upper crimp groove. The nose is too long for .475 brass.
Lower groove is for .480 brass.

Ya know Lee dies are really soft steel. You could contact Lathsmith and see if he can open one up for you.
Just a thought

Or you could do it yoursef.

Thanks for the tip on opening the dies. I have done this, but by the time I buy one, pay shipping, and then open it up, I think I'm better off to just buy one that's right.

The $35 includes shipping, and I wouldn't be surprised to find that $22 is the cost of the die itself these days. Fuel is driving shipping charges crazy and thanks to China buying everything up at any cost, all metals are through the roof.

It looks like my lyman 424 fitS loosely, but my rcbs 424 is too small.

My RCBS sizer sized to .477. Too big for the BFR. I need the Lee to make it .476.

I got mine yesterday too. Lee did a precise job. They come out exactly what is needed. Now I can load and shoot. Can't wait.
