Here's what it would cost you if you bought it new:

$9.97 per lb for 50/50
http://www.rotometals.com/product-p/solder5050.htm

$11.59 per lb for 60/40
http://www.rotometals.com/product-p/solder6040.htm

However, they might only get lead prices if they were to bring it to the scrap yard.
If they make you name a price first, then I'd start low and go from there. They might even be happy with $1 a pound, who knows? $5 a pound is fair, though.

If it's drippings, it's closer to solder, if it's came, it's closer to pure lead. My wife was dabbling in stain glass work & I bought her instructors scrap for 25c/#. It was all came so needs ww or tin added to work for most applications over 900fps.

Unless it is scrap from a window that was taken apart you are getting scraps of lead came. It will be essentially pure lead.
I bet that even the left overs from a window that was broken down you would have far morrow pure lead than you would solder.

My opinion- treat it as pure unless it is rolls of solder.

I have a fishing sinker mould. I swap sinkers for cane (sp). Funny I was about to post stained glass shop as a source for lead. Jeffrey

You just reminded me , owe the stained glass guy a beer.
The scraps he gives me I use as pure for casting round ball , it does have some solder in
it so there is a little tin. Next time I will have to give it the pencil test.
He says some of it also contains a small amount of bismuth
in the new stuff.

If you have a thermometer, then you can try to figure out the %'s with the melting point.

From the sticky on MP's:
621° = lead
563° = solder (90% lead & 10% tin)
529° = solder (80% lead & 20% tin)
504° = solder (70% lead & 30% tin)
464° = solder (60% lead & 40% tin)
428° = solder (50% lead & 50% tin)
374° = solder (40% lead & 60% tin)
362° = solder (37% lead & 63% tin) (eutectic)
365° = solder (30% lead & 70% tin)
392° = solder (20% lead & 80% tin)
421° = solder (10% lead & 90% tin)
450° = tin

It should be pretty obvious if it is lead or solder when the melting points are nearly 200 degrees different.
