a friend of mine just gave me a RCBS 310 120 i think he all he wants for me to do is cast him up 20 or so pounds for him to use in his Aussie rifle (310 cadet) i have only used lee molds so i dont know anything about this, is it pretty common? its the flat base round nose, i was thinking this would be a fun little round for my nieces and nephews to shoot in a little 308 or something, thanks

That mold was designed specifically for the .310 cartridge and IIRC was intended to have only the lowest band seated into the case mouth and outside lubricated. It is supposed to work well in the Cadet barrels but I think that you'll find the dimensions incompatible with most .30 cal barrels. You might be able to tumble lube it and use at very low speeds from an Enfield or Mosin-Nagant with a generous barrel. Maybe even get a .32 gas check on it and size it further? I don't have one to play with to tell for sure.

Take a look at the RCBS 30-115-SP. It was designed for the 30 carbine and has been a mainstay of plinker loads in the various 30s for me and the kids around here for years.

As hornet mentioned, the mold you have is much less common as it was purpose built for a fairly uncommon gun.

I recommend that every 30 cal shooter have some form of the Carbine bullet be it the Lyman (311410), Lee (309-120R), or the RCBS. They are just good fun.

The Lyman 311359 serves very well for me in a number of bores.
