I have a styer m95 carbine and need help with load data for it. Ut is chambered in 8x56rimmed hungarian and I have resized some cast 158 grain .357 bullets to .329 diameter and was wondering what a charge weight using Hodgons h414 powder would be. I have calculated that around 25 grains would be a good starting point of about 1850-1900 fps. I know good charge weights for other powders but was wondering if I could use the available powder I had.

Never mind this thread I have found that H414 is to slow of a powder and have found an appropriate load in a magazine article about reloading for the styer m95 using 25 grains of Alient 2400 powder.

I do copper bullets due to lack of sucess with cast in their typically rough bores tearing up tons of lead shreads. 208 grain graf bullet works well with 4831. i would expect the same powder would do the lead well as fine. i use that powder in both 8x56 and 762x54r

I'm using the Oldfeller Frankenstein boolit in front of a case of WC867 and a few grains of a mid-speed powder as a kicker. I was suprised to find that I was shooting that boolit at 2300fps with no leading. Haven't judged accuracy yet, I thought I was having trouble finding the sweet spot for my chronograph when the problem was the shadow on it. I got enough rounds over it to get a reliable average speed but that was all. Gotta take it back but I've been seduced by a 25-20!

I think .329 might be a little small for the M95. Mine run 330-331. Suggest you slug the bore.

Just a note. I just recieved the new unprimed 8x56R brass I ordered a couple of months ago from Buffaloarms. So it is available again
