Hello this is my first post here and if it is in the wrong section moderators fell free to move it. I have a styer m95 carbine and need help with load data for it. Ut is chambered in 8x56rimmed hungarian and I have resized some cast 158 grain .357 bullets to .329 diameter and was wondering what a charge weight using Hodgons h414 powder would be. I have calculated that around 25 grains would be a good starting point of about 1850-1900 fps. I know good charge weights for other powders but was wondering if I could use the available powder I had.

Never mind this thread I have found that H414 is to slow of a powder and have found an appropriate load in a magazine article about reloading for the styer m95 using 25 grains of Alient 2400 powder.

SS, welcome to the forum. In my 95 I used the 338 Win Lee mould and started off wth 13.0 Red Dot. It worked pretty well. Then I got a proper .333 design off Ebay for an NEI, about 230grs IIRC. The Red Dot load worked even better in that. I ran out of Red Dot later and tried another standard load of 16.0 2400. It seems to work about as well so far. I believe your 25 gr load is going to be rather warm and that the .329 will be undersized. I found .332 was an okay size in mine but a little larger would probably be better. Lees .329 die can be polished out easily. I can almost promise .329 will be too small, especially if you aren't using a GC.

Where about in NY are you?

+1 on starting with 16 gr 2400. This is one of THE standard loads for 20th century milsurp
cartridges that always seems to work well as a starting load. Many stop right there because
it works so well.
