I'm in need on some data using one of these powders if possible: Unique, Bullseye, Titegroup or Clays. All suggestions would be helpful, thanks.

jbrch378, I happened to be looking for a load for Lyman #358429 (~175gr. with lube) in the Alliant Powder pamphlet and found 7.0gr. Unique as a MAX. load for 180gr. jacketed bullets. Not wishing to push my revolvers that hard to punch paper, I settled for 6.4gr. Unique, i.e., what Lyman rotor #8s throws. Sorry, but I can't help you with B'eye or Clays.

There is a thread on this same page that has a lot of good loads. May not show your exact bullet but the loads should interchange fine if kept in the same weight class.Might be worth a read.

I have the Saeco #354 180 gr fpgc and the Lee gb 180 gr wfn gc
both shoot excellent without the gas ck installed at approx under 1,100 fps
4.5 gr of tight Group @ 870 fps or 4.5 gr or BE
12.0 gr WW surplus 820 @ 1200 fps with GC installed
from revolvers with either bullet , rifle velocties approx 200 fps higher.

You really need a slower powder for heavy bullets. I used H110 for mine, but have used 2400, which is more flexible as far as charge weights go.

H4227 Extreme and the Beartooth Bullets' 185 FNGC:

Temp: 78F

Distance to chronograph screens 10 ft.
Six round velocity test.

S&W 686, 4 inch barrel, .357 Magnum

185 BTB FNGC, Sized .358,
13.0 grains of H4227,
New Starline .357 Magnum brass,
Winchester Small Pistol Magnum primers:

1103 FPS average, 27 fps extreme spread, Low 1091 FPS , High 1118 FPS.

Bullet length .728" and 1.566" oal seated in 1.278" Starline cases.

This is an accurate, less that maximum and comparatively soft recoiling load that leaves surprisingly little powder residue. This has become my favorite .357 load.

Hodgdon's 2010 Basic Reloading handbook, shows a maximum charge of 13.7 H4227 under a 180gr Nosler Partition.

Hodgdon has discontinued H4227.
Current lots of IMR4227 are identical per Hodgdon.
