The best place to start selecting a mold is slugging your bore to get an accurate groove to groove diameter. plus.002" from there is a typical diameter.

lighter boolits are selected for reasons like varmint hunting, plinking loads and cost saving. medium and heavy boolits are selected for reasons like kill power for larger game, long range accuracy and metal target knock over.

most 7.62x39mm rifles slug at .310- 312" some American X39s will slug at .307-.308". there can be even wider variations . Start right and get an accurate measurement from slugging your bore and avoid a lot of frustration with inaccuracy and leading caused by undersized boolits.

Here are some common selections:
Lyman #311459, Gas Checked 115 gr pointed
Lyman # 311410, Plain Based 130 gr RN
Lee # C312-155-2R, 155 gr Gas Checked 2 Radius Ogive point
Lee# CTL312-160-2R, 160 gr Gas checked Tumble lubed 2R point

There are also some 313" and 314" diameter bullets designed for other cartridges that will size down to fit the X39 well.

I use this one in my .303 British but it should work just fine for a 7.62 x 39. In fact I think it was designed for 7.62 x 39.

There is a group buy on right now:
