View Full Version : Tomorrow

If anyone has an extra prayer or two laying around I can use it. I have been given a preliminary diagnosis of stage four Lung Cancer and tomorrow after nearly two months of tests (four X-rays, three Cat scans, a PET scan, an MRI, three biopsy's, and a bunch of blood draws) I am finally going to see the Oncologist and find out what we are going to do about it. I am getting real tired of the long faces on these Doctors.

Any loose prayers would be appreciated.

Added your name to the daily prayer list.

Good luck, may they have good news. Barring that, at least a plan.

Godspeed.

Doctors work on generalities. Your attutude and desire will go a long way. The big guy will help, and I will ask him.

Will do. Discuss it with the man upstairs and ask for some extra strength, and
some mental support.

Best wishes.

All of the above, Tim. I am not far behind you in classification and have had two chemical rounds (one seven and another 3 occurrences per round) along with 33 small radiation bombardments (typical for large cell bad guys of any type). I feel good and the junk is fairly arrested for the time being. Most docs, however, will use a customary (from the big AMA book) chemical treatment for their own legal protection. Your odds of any wave bombardment will be slim if critical organs are involved. Don't let the docs be too aggressive, especially with antibiotics. Prayers, you can count on that!!! ... felix

Good luck to you and you are certainly in my prayers.

My Dad has been fighting that same battle for 3-4 years now. He's still kicking pretty good though the chemo does beat him up.

When he was first diagnosed, the docs said that he may have a year. He is still going at it to this day and I think/hope he may have a few more years yet.

Take care sir, and don't despair. I think your will and your attitude can be your strongest allies.

The "C" word is never what we want to hear. Remember that all things are possible with God. I have prayed for you both and will continue to do so. He will give Faith and Strength for the journey.

Just got back from seeing first the Medical Oncologist and then the radiation guy and they both seem to think I can beat this, at least for a while.
The longer I can go the more time the researchers have to find a cure (my words, not theirs).
Will go back to Boise next Monday and then every three weeks for a while, I am encouraged.

Praying for both of you. I am glad we have the freedom to ask each other to pray. I'm having cataract surgery next week, and my doctor asked me if I wanted to pray about it. "You bet!" was my reply. God knows what is going on and what is best for us, even though we often don't have a clue.

Tim, They gave my Dad a year at best. He was told to take it easy and lay around the house and wait. He only waited two months. He then bought a chainsaw, a small dump truck and started cutting firewood. He liked a good snort of brandy and my Ma freaked out when he drank. He kept a bottle in his truck or on top a barn beam. We had many good talks after a days cutting, sitting around a fire and feeling good from the work. He made it 16 years!

I pray you will have that many and more years. I pray for the Doctors guidance and I pray that you know our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ!

I don't want to be a bore with this so I'm not posting a lot but I must add an update. First off, never think prayer doesn't work. I won't even try to say who is praying but the furthest west person is in Australia and the furthest east is in Germany.

Thing is this; prayer, a good Doc. and a serious plan seems to be working. The biggest tumor, the one in the lung. and the one which is easy to see on an Xray is only 25 to 30 percent of what it was just six weeks ago (just two treatments). Had a third one yesterday and will do one more on October third. After that one has a week or two to settle they will do a serious CAT Scan and then we will make a new plan for future monitoring and treatment. I will post again then.

Prayer is good and still works.

felix, how you doin?

Yeah, it's been too stinkin' hot up until now.

btw, Felix, the all wx shooting building is almost turned over to us from the general contractor. Then, we will install the shooting benches and the back wall loading bench. FINALLY, we will be back to where we were prior to the tornado, May 2011. You will like the new building! Last Saturday, after the match, we rebuilt all the target boards on the 100 and 200 yard lines - that's 70 total (35 firing points) with a bunch of beat up old cripples and some kids. It was a good day out with friends!

Here's the thing, when yer down, get up and do something. Helps the healing process. Keep the juices flowing. This place here helps a lot -- just being around friends.
