Anybody shooting this boolit in their 45 LC? I would like to hear some feedback before I purchase one.
The Lee description is 452-255-RF. The firearm is a new Ruger Blackhawk in 45LC and also has the second cylinder in 45 ACP, because of the second cylinder I would assume that the bore is close to .451" Fair assumption?

What do you use for a top punch? I don't see them on their site.

Any large flat top punch will work as long as it does not mark the ogive.

I have it and like it for a general purpose shooter. Meplat is not as big as a WFN, but it's still on par with a "keith" boolit. I would try them on Deer if I didn't have a WFN already. I shoot them made of WDWW over 8gr of Rex III (like Unique or Universal) and they shoot pretty good. Maybe 4" groups at 50yd? I haven't really bench tested them, just shot a bunch off-hand. Plenty good for most uses. More load work might yeild tighter groups.

Longone,
Like subsonic I have used this as a general purpose bullet in 45 Colt with pretty good results. I have also cast some for friends for use in their 45 Colts and they have told me that they shot good for them.
I even have used this bullet in a 1911 with an oversized chamber that loves this bullet.
Good luck, jmsj

Most of use are FAR more familiar with the Lee description system, like
452-255-RF than the part number. Using that part number will usually get a lot
of "Huh?" responses. The PN is certainly an accurate identifier, but isn't
descriptive like the designation is.

Just a hint.

As to the boolit, what are the throat dimensions in your gun? Older .45 Colts used
a .454 boolit diameter, but later ones use a .452 diameter. If yours needs .454 or larger,
the .452 mold might cast too small to work for you.

I use and like this boolit in my Bisley Ruger and in my Rossi "92" clone. I size 0454 and in the rifle it is more fun than a feller should be allowed.

What top punch can you fellas recommend for this mold? I would like to order one to try and I might as well have a top punch that will work without buggering up the boolit.

Thanks, Longone

I use one from LBT that came with my .45 WFN mould. I would suggest using something similar, like maybe a top punch for 454424 or RCBS 270-SAA

For a time, "Buckshot" (member and moderator here) made a "generic" top punch that the buyer filled with epoxy to form custom top punch contours. Hit him up and see if he can help you.

Thanks for the assistance, I have sent a PM to Buckshot and we'll see how it works out.

I got a two cavity a while back, I like it. Just did my first reload with it. Good bullet. I've always wondered however why Mr. Lee decided on two lube grooves. Is it as simple as "two is better than one" or just to be different?

According to the castpic.net top punch cross reference you can use the Lyman 190, 649,191 or RCBS 424 top punch on the Lee 452-255-RF. http://www.castpics.net/subsite/TopPunches/Lee.html

I use a Lee. 452 push through sizer currently.
