I am pleased to show the first casting from my new mold. On top of it for comparison purposes are the 30 soupcan, 38 wadcutter GB,Lee 158 TL, Lyman 44 cowboy, 311410 Lyman, and Lee 45 acp .

Ballistics are not complete yet but I plan to launch this 1.75 pound projectile at 10,000 fps from a snub nose 6 shot revolver. It will be sized 2.250001 inches and is cast of a soft alloy so it will expand reliably. It will be lubed with my own special mixture of bare grease, lemon lime jello and Preparation H in equal amounts.

Cases are formed by necking .22 short cases up. Although this shows some minor problems in headspacing, I feel it can be overcome.

The only problems remaining are finding a revolver large enough to hold 6 of the cartridges ( I plan on looking in Texas first) and coming up with a suitable name...

This brings me to the point of my posting...I need your help! I thought of calling it..."Dale's Jim Dandy Rabbit Killer!" But I don't like it.....Alas...the intellect that helped me design this great cartridge has failed me in naming it....

Any Ideas???

Happy early first of April......

Hey, I can help you with one solution. WE now know why you want a gallon of LLA, that sucker will use it up pretty fast. The mold problem is to use the same size can everytime, but that my not be necessary after the first shot.

castalott,

Better not use TOO MUCH Preparation H as it might shrink the bullet and it will be undersize for the barrel...BCB

Have you set up the Big Green Casting Machine to run those bullets? Did ya have to add a little larger lead pot? :) Wes

Oh you all know you can't use a RCBS to properly load that bullet. You need to buy a Dillon!!!![smilie=1:

Hi Wes! How are you? It has been a long time...I hope you are well. I tore the big green machine apart today....It's up for another rebuild/upgrade. But I cast 6000 plinkers for me and 3600 44 cowboy bullets for friends before I quit. Have you ever started on your machine? Times a wasting, you know....

Nice to see old friends,Dale
