Hi All.

There's a guy selling a Lyman armory mould that he says is a 308320 but he says he's not real sure of the last 2 numbers as they were hard to read. I couldn't find any reference to such a mould number (even looking for a 311320), so here's a picture, can anyone figure out what boolit this mould is for? Also, does that nose look too sharp to feed in a tubular magazine?

My eyes aren't what they used to be but, I don't see any alignment pins on that monster.

MikeS, Check on CASTPICS under the 1929 Ideal catalog. That looks like either the 308278 (standard .30-40 Krag bullet) or the 308280 (standard .30-06 Gov't bullet). If the diameter of the band nearest the nose is bore diameter rather than groove diameter, it's probably the 308280. Old plain base design around 196 grains either way. I wouldn't run them in a tubular magazine but they would do well out of a bolt gun at moderate speeds (maybe higher with some tricks applied). Its frequently hard to read the numbers on some of the older molds.

Hornet: Thanks for the info! I'm going to watch and see if it sells, or if not, if he relists it, as he wants $150, and I think that's kind of high (but I could be wrong).

EOD3: the picture doesn't show any, but it's also a sort of close up. Usually the armory moulds had a single alignment pin on the side by the handles, using the hinge as the other alignment devise, as it's one piece with the handles (well, each side is one with the handles, so I guess that's 2 pieces)
