I just purchased a TC 32 H&R Mag barrel with .308 bore, and I plan to shoot 95 grain cast ww SWC's out of it. I also have a Ruger Single Six that I size the same boolits to .312. I don't know the exact throat size of the new TC barrel, but I'm guessing I'll be able to shoot .311 sized cast ww boolits through it without any problem, rather than going to a .308 sizer. If anyone has any opinion on this I'd be interested to hear.

Thanks, Gene

I suspect that the TC barrel will be just fine with the same ammo as the single six, but until you try, it's all a guessing game.

I bet it'll be fun :)

It has a pretty big, tapered throat and will handle .312 bullets just fine. I use #3118 sized to .312 in mine for hunter's pistol, and RCBS 165 SIL sized to .309 in it for big bore standing. It shoots great with both.

Same here, I size 32-20 and 32 mag to .311. It works better than you'd think.

Roger that and thanks for the info - that's good to know. I believe I read somewhere the .308 bore was for silhouette shooters wanting to shoot the .308 bullets in it, of which there is a bigger variety. I'd prefer to stick with the 95 grain SWC's for now. I'll try.311's and .312's and see how they do.

I also size my cast at .312 for my Single Six and the same loads shoot just fine in my 10" TC barrel.

I have a number of .32 handguns (most for the .32 H&R) including a TC. However, due to Thompson Center going for the .308" barrel dimensions, I got a custom SSK barrel with .312" dimensions.

That said, I have heard from a number of reliable sources that state a .312" cast bullet works well due to the larger chamber throat of the TC (than you might reasonably think). I'd try the larger bullets. The general rule is to size to fit the throat (including single shots) so that would be in line with what is suggested, here.
