As posted by Gunload Master in another thread:

At least a 3.5 Gigahertz machine or compatible (AMD XP 3700+) I would recommend an AMD processer (64 bit would be nice) as my first choice, or one of the higher end Pentium processors. Stay away from Celeron at all costs.

What is wrong with the Celeron? Just asking, and not defensive. I've one in my machine that has been running for 5 years or so....

just wondering.

Thanks.

Thanks Sundog, according to to that article my Celeron is good enough for what I do with my computer. It is basicaly just an email/web surfing machine for me. No hardcore programs running....

Thanks.

IMO, the best guy to run for pres next time around is:

Now, he would be an ideal processor to get rid of our system's junk.

Good article to point out Sundog.

I've also heard of complains from people of their systems bogging down and becoming unstable and freezing with celeron processors. So it's an all around performance issue. The way I would see it, is if your wanting to have a computer for a long time, spend another 50 bucks and get a quality processor.. Just my 2 cents.
