I have a BRP mould that throws a 315gr boolit. My H&H Ruger #1) loves 4759 and a LRM primer

Now I just gotta load them up, and get my new scope mounted . . . although I may cheat and just use the scope that came on it . . . just for the first few shots . . . to break in my shoulder . . .

Watch you scope to noggin distance [smilie=b::p

I have a few friends with that nice cresent cut above the eyebrow from
some of my heavy kickers like 375 weatherby - That one actually ate
several scopes before I put a leupold on it that could take the punishment.

Number 2 from the left needs a hotter and/or heavier sprue. The third boolit from the left is showing a slight rounding of the base (GC shank) too. First boolit on the left is showing signs of low mold temp. You might think about turning up your pot another 25F assuming #1 (from L) was cast in an "up-to-temp mold" at your comfortable casting speed. The side of #4 which is depicted looks great.

Marlin,

The mold was not up to temp, phone rang ... Story in first post ...

Well then... nevermind.

Sorry, I'm a picture first, words later kind of guy. I'm going to look this mold cutter up on the internet. Thanks for the post.

123 Diesel is a OK guy.I have been wreasting with what bullet i wanted to try in my Ruger #1 and was about to send an order to BRP for one of his molds. Well i thought about it to long and unfortanly for all of us they have moved on to different things.

Any way Diesel was good enough to send me some of his bullets for me to try at a rediclous low price(shipping) maybe.

I want to thank him right here and now.
Thanks Shawn!

Question: How do you get a price list? like the molds but how do they compare price wise to say Milhec? MP molds?

A full layout price list became impractical because there are now so many options. For example, a 3 cavity 44 costs a bit less than a 3 cavity 50, because the 50 uses larger blocks. Unless, of course, you choose the oversized blocks for the 44 because it's a real heavyweight. Then there's the option of a 3 cavity holding one 50 and two 44s, and so on.

It's set up now so that once you enter just a couple answers in "configure and price a mold", you get the price of every layout option for that boolit.

What is your sizing diameter?

I have one of Toms molds: a .378-275H with a nominal band diameter of .378. It casts bullets with a diameter of .3785+ with a Lyman #2 equivalent alloy. I size mine down to .377. It does takes a little force sizing.

My best load so far is 35 gr. of H4198 with a Dacron filler. It groups a bit over 1"@100 yds. in my Ruger #1 and 1.5" in my Sako Finnbear.

In retrospect I should have taken Tom's advice and ordered my mold with my sizing diameter of.377. My next Accurate mold will be a .377-315B.

With lube and gas check my .378-275H bullet weighs an even 270 gr. I might try a .378 sizing die and see how that works. I almost hate to mess around with it since my results are quite satisfactory.

Tom does make great molds,,,No doubt about that!

The old 375 H&H is a real kicker. I once shot a 375 Weatherby(believe it or not) an old gunsmith had and let me shoot. He gave me five rounds, three were 270 gr and two were 300 gr and he said I'd bring back two rounds. I said, yeah...right. After shooting the first two 300 gr rounds and having that Weaver 4x scope hit me between the eyes and knock my glasses nearly off, I brought him three rounds back. I had enough. I guess Elmer wold have called me a wuss.

Just waiting for my moulds from Tom.....they are in the mail and on the way. I ordered them on line and he had them in the mail in one week !!!!! Great service for sure. I will post when I get a chance to pour some boolits. I ordered for my 35 Whelen a four cavity mould, two 235 grain flat points and two 270 grain flat points, both Gas checked.

I apologize for the necropost...but that 375-278H is a fine looking boolit. So fine that I just ordered a dual mold with it and a 38-300A. Will be shooting out of a 375 Ruger that I ordered the other day. I can't wait !

Thanks for the thread 123 !!

you won't be waiting long. I just received a new mould from Accurate. Took about 10 days turnaround. Fast for a custom mould.
