Found these at the local plumbing store. I've seen them before, but never without a logo of some sort stamped into them. Copper is about 12 thou thick. They were selling them for $0.38 ea. as one-offs, but the guy seems to think the price would drop a lot if they were purchased in bulk. Still waiting on prices. Probably not going to be cheaper than real jackets, but if you needed something in a pinch...

Unless you're already set up to draw them into jackets, I'm not really certain how useful they'd be.

ETA: at only .012" thick, I'm not sure they'd even be suitable for bullet jackets - more like tall gas checks!

With a drawing die I'm sure tehy would easlily rduce to any diameter you wish.

Anythign is possible. I bet by the time they reduce to say 30 cal they could be 1" long or more????

Swage on I say but at 38 cents a piece... OUCH!

I'm all for research for knowledge, cost be damned; but, in the end, costs will rule the day. Whether the cost is material, time, or energy consumed. Lord knows I have spent plenty of all three chasing dreams and fantasies, some of which proved to be worth the effort.
As Thomas Edison said, "None of my inventions came by accident. I see a worthwhile need to be met and I make trial after trial until it comes. What it boils down to is one per cent inspiration and ninety-nine per cent perspiration."
Have at it and let us know what you find out.

For what it's worth the upper rim of my 5.7 brass 30 cal jackets are .010 and they shoot great!
