View Full Version : New RCBS mold--should there be a gap?

I just got my (first two) bullet molds.

When closed, there's a noticeable difference between the two molds--one shows a gap at the nose of the bullet (and other places as well) and the other mold does not. I'd say that the gap at or below 0.005".

Is this normal?

Like I said, these are my first molds so I have nothing to compare them to--all I know is that one shows a gap and the other doesn't. If the gap should not be there, I'd rather just exchange the unused mold with Midway now, rather than try to exchange a used mold w/ RCBS later.

Thanks for any advice!

No the gap is not normal

The last mould i bought RCBS

when you held the blocks togeather one of the pins was out too far
so blocks stuck when you tried to pull them apart with finger pressure
(Found when cleaning mould)

can't rembemer if i used a hammer or used the bench mounted vice to move it that little bit to unstick that one pin

BINGO!!

That was it.

I used a large C-clamp and both pins literally "popped" into place.
