I'm shooting 135 grain .314 cast through my AK. Was using 2400 powder for quite a while but have recently switched to AA1680, which has been more accurate. I'm keeping the velocity down, but still plenty to cycle the action, even with a new recoil spring. No leading in the barrel, but some lead accumulates on the bore of the gas block. I acquired an inexpensive (chinese) 14mm reamer which I use to remove the lead from the gas block when it builds up enough to hang up the piston. IMI brass likes to be annealed after 5 or 6 reloads to prevent neck splitting. Definitely a lot of fun.

truckmsl got me interested in AK's and cast and knows his stuff.

I now shoot a 308 Siaga with good luck. After about 600 rounds the gas piston and cylinder got a bit of light leading and carbon fouling.the gun still cycled but the point of impact slowly moved up and right about 2".When i scraped it out the zero returned.I use 4895 in my 308 and the Lee or NEI 155 Harris bullet.
