Don't know if this is commonly known, but it's new to me.
I got a mold from Erik at hollowpointmolds.com which arrived today. Lyman 457125, a good sized SC. The halves were secured very well by a sturdy black rubber band. Looking at it I believe he's taken a bicycle inner tube and cut a 3/16" slice and forming the band. Probably a racing bike sized tube–not too wide. Works great!

Yep. But my tubes are too small. It can't be a real "racing bike" tube, more like a mid section
width tire. My tires are only about 1" wide, and I cut sections from an old tube and they were
way too small.

Oops! Sorry, Bill. Guess I'm thinking of a '70's type racer. Maybe. Find the right tube and it makes an excellent heavy duty rubber band for the purpose.
