Can anyone tell me where I can obtain handgun bullet jackets? I feel Corbin is too darn expensive. Has anyone had any success purchasing jackets from the major bullet manufacturers?

What calibers? BTSniper's idea of using cheap readily available brass works for certain calibers.

You won't find jackets cheaper than boxes of factory made bullets.

People who buy jackets aren't looking to make bullets cheaper than they can buy them. They're looking to make BETTER bullets than they can buy.

So, if you're looking for cheaper, forgetaboutit.... (as they say in Brooklyn)

If you are looking for better, then Corbin's prices aren't bad. There are other places to also get them. Berger is one of the bullet manufacturers who sells them.

You can get them at Bruno's:

Larry Blackmon sells them, about half Corbin's price.

I once asked Blammer if his stamping source for gas checks could make bullet jackets.

He responded, No.

Gas checks are made on a regular stamping machine.

The jackets are made in a deep drawing machine, different equipment.

Here's a brief description of the machines for deep drawing (method for making bullet jackets), and how they do what they do:

This (http://www.bulletswagingsupply.com/index.html) is Larry Blackmon's website. He is NOT a techie, and prefers to do business over the phone. His phone number is: 318-387-7257. If you shoot me an e-mail I will send you a .pdf copy of his catalog. NOTE: The prices are several years out of date.

I just got some 45 and 44 pistol jackets from Blackmon 3 months ago and I paid around 8 cents a piece. He carries 38, 44, and 45. Sometimes he has rifle jackets too, 7 mm, 30 cal.

His e-mail is listed on the catalog I sent you. About the only response I ever got to an e-mail was "call me."

Will give it a go - however I can see now that writing on the box - NZ as opposed to Texas for eg is going to be a drama lol

$.07 is not bad. It is hardly worth my time to make them out of .40 brass for that. What length are you getting and what is his delivery time frame? Do you know if he makes them or does he have a stamping source that he buys from?

I better clarify my comment on making them from .40 brass though. I spend time milling the ejection rim off the brass so I have a fair amount of time in making the jackets. The guys who use the case as is, with the rim attached, and use the 1 step approach to making theirs don't have as much time so they can turn out the finished product a lot faster. The time factor compared to cost will probably be less important to them.

They are 0.70" - he has them in stock apparently - I'm getting 2k of them.
I REALLLY need some 1" copper jackets, but can't find them anywhere.

Larry calls them BSS (Bullet Swage Supply) jackets, so he might make them. They look exactly like the ones I got from Dave Corbin though.

When I ordered mine, I got them in a week or less.
