got this pistol this morning and before buy an mold ,i want know if swc bullet feeds well or i must close with round nose

I have a Springfield Mil Spec that feeds 200 and 185 SWC's just fine! Right out of the box it's been no trouble at all, accurate and reliable.

I have 2- SA ! one in 45 acp the loaded version, i have no problem with feeding with the Saeco # 062 - 170 gr / #068 - 200 gr swc / #058 - 215 gr swc or the #496 - 230 gr rn im useing wilson mags . i never used the factory mag its still in the case, as i have about 15 wilson mags and they have worked flawlessely in my other 1911s reguardless of caliber 45 acp & 38 super . for over 25 years.

the wilson mag is a far superior mag than what comes with the gun. But if you are on a budget I believe the factory mag will be fine for the swc. But I've been wrong before

I have the Springfield Armory GI Spec model 1911A1 and it is perfectly reliable with SWC, truncated cone or round nose bullets. My normal load is 5.6 grains of WW-231 with every bullet from 185 grains to 230 grains.

I think that Springfield magazines are made by Metalform, but am not 100 percent sure. I use Chip McCormick powermags and have Zero problems feeding any kind of bullet shape. I too use WW231 with excellent results. I seat my SWC boolits to 1.250" over all length.

My springer 1911-A1 loaded will function with #68 SWC--round nose--gold dots
--lead HP's --it just flat out works. If yours wont Springfield will make it work.
My Springfield mags work fine, and so do 7 or 8 others that I don't even know the name of.

My Springers eat whatever i feed them. From hardball J bullets to any of my cast boolits.

You'd think so but that's not always the case. It's been maybe 15 years ago when I was visiting one of the best 1911 pistolsmiths in the country who happened to live nearby my home. A fellow stopped in with a high dollar custom 1911 pistol, complaining that it wouldn't feed the H&G #68 bullets worth beans. OTOH, my 1927 Argentine loves them and so does my Springfield Armory GI Model.

I know that's anecdotal and only one example but I wouldn't assume that a particular 1911 will feed the #68 until I had run a bunch through it.

No doubt that there are always exceptions, but I stand by the general statement that
the number of modern-throated 1911s that won't feed a H&G 68 is very small, and that
they are odd anomalies, not the norm. Frankly, the guns that won't feed it are notable
by their nature as very unusual - and this is why I said "essentially" and not "absolutely".
You are right, a few will not digest it. But the odds are strongly in your favor.

As to the H&G 130 - it is a REALLY short boolit, and my limited experience with my H&G 130
mold has shown it to feed fine, it was not as accurate as my 452460 in the few tests that
I made - not exhaustive, so I have not done much with the H&G 130 mold in years. I would
GUESS that the 130 is so short as to be more likely to cause issues with feading than the
452460 or definitely the H&G 68, but that is not based on any real problems that I have
had with the design in my limited testing.
