View Full Version : Saeco #944 Loading Questions

I recently purchased 500 of these 200 gr Saeco #944 in .430 to load up in .44 special cases.

I can't find any reloading recipes anywhere on the net. Seems like this is a fairly common mould, so I am hoping that someone has some loads for this boolit they use in a .44 special?

I started out with 6.1 grains of Unique. My Oregon Trail Bullet loading info shows the starting charge for a LRN in 200 gr to be 6.1 grains of Unique, and I have shot quite a bit of these LRN loads in a 5.5" Ruger Redhawk. My Lyman manual shows the starting charge of 7 grains of Unique for a LRN 200 grain boolit.

So, I guess my question is, the Saeco bullet is seated quite a bit deeper than the 200 gr. round nose bullet would be. I am assuming that these boolits were designed to be seated all the way to the crimp groove?

If anyone has any input, or if you have any other recipes that you use for this boolit in a .44 special, I would sure appreciate it. Thanks.
