I beagled a Lee mold today to cast some fat 30s----The Aluminum tape came loose in the process---Its the aluminum duct tape with adhesive on it. Any Ideas how to keep the aluminum tape in the hot mold???----Mag

My one beagling a mould experiment required me to throughly clean the spot I put the tape. Even then it wanted to slip a little. Perhaps those with more hound experience can offer a tip?

(My last Beagling revealed my dogs would rather follow deer tracks than bunny tracks!)

:coffee: ---Yes I throughly cleaned the blocks today and will try again when I get a chance---Right now trying to get my A-- in gear and get to the range--I have plenty of 7.62x54R loaded with 18grs. of 2400 both gas checked and non gas checked with what I call a gas check filler-----both loads give about the same performance with a 185gr. .312 boolit which is three shot clover leafs----I wanted to try the 200gr. .309 boolit thats why I tried to beagle it--I just believe in the so called .308 class longer lead boolits preform well --just my opinion---Mag

I Beagled a 314299 that was casting a little undersize and used aluminum foil held to the mould with Permatex blue (gasket) silicone. To get the right amount of shim I "glue" one layer of foil them checked and wound up gluing another layer over top. If memory serves the foil is about 0.001" thick so 2 layers about 0.002" - maybe a hair more with the silicone.

I didn't have the aluminum duct tape handy and I am impatient. No problems doing this.
