Has anyone used this bullet in their 1911 ???

IMHO it would make the perfect bullet for my 1911 and Vaquero

Thanks and have a Happy 4th

I originally got this bullet for my .45 AR revos but found it shot well in my autos also. You may have to mess with the OAL but it is a good shooting bullet.

I just bought this Mold on Fri. I made one dummy round and it fed well in my Hi Point. I also figure it will make a good bullet for my Uberti SA.

We use the Magma mold 45-200-rnfp revolver bullet in 45 acp all the time. It’s a very good one in the Springfield XD's and a few others that don't like SWC designs.

Only glitch I’ve ran into is the RN seating stem in my Dillon die doesn't fit very well.

I have that bullet in a six cavity mold and use it like you want to. It works just fine in all 8 45 ACP pistols and in my Uberti revolvers and lever action rifles as well. It is one of my favorit bullets in this caliber.

Interesting that you folks have had such good luck with this bullet in autoloaders. My SIG and an acquaintances Ruger and Glock will not run this bullet unless it is seated so deep the taper crimp has to be on the start of the ogive. If any, and I mean any, of the bullet's full diameter is in front of the case mouth, it will absolutely will not return fully to battery and is a real PITA to try to clear because of the bullet stuck in the rifling. Also, on these three specific guns it does not feed reliably.

Now before anyone gets all wired up, this is for these three individual pieces and may not be at all indicative of results in other, virtually identical guns.

My best luck has been with the Lee 230 gr. TC.

I cast up 200 plus bullets and lubed them and loaded up all my available brass 91 pieces tonite. Used a 2/10ths under a max load of red dot for the charge. Max is 5.3 I went with 5.1 to try them out. What loads does every one else use?

I have used it in my Kimber UCII. Seated at the crimp groove, it feeds well. Groups well, but shoots low for me. I need a heavier boolit in my pistol.

I played with it some. I found the the crimp groove annoying as it is right where I'd like to put the taper crimp. Seating shorter gave me setback issues and seating longer didn't feed as reliably as I'd like.

I seated my bullets there and I do not think it bothered the taper crimp at all.

I use the 200 grain RF in both my Springfield and Para 1911 single stacks. It is accurate and dependable. I use a load that gets around 900 fps. That same boolit works well in my Schofield 45 Colt pistols and in my 45 acp S&W revolvers. Hey, that 200 gr. RF also works well in my 1928 Thompson SMG reproduction.

Feeds and shoots well in my Ruger P90 DC.

I shoot tens of thousands of these boolits through my Springfield XD45 Tactical and very customized Colt M1991A1 with zero issues of any kind.

Originally, I bought the mould as an alternative to SWC designs for the XD, however, I've since discovered that the Lyman 452460 functions flawlessly. (YMMV) Anyway, back on topic with the 200gr RF, when I picked up the Colt, I anticipated issues with the very short OAL (1.168") but it works beautifully. Sized to .452" via Lee push-through die and twice coated with Recluse's 45/45/10 and pushed by 4.8gr of W231 gives me ~740 fps with recoil that's noticeably lighter than factory 147gr 9mm Luger target ammo. If I'm looking for something zippier, I'll run 6.7gr of W231 for ~1020fps. For the record, this load I developed myself...I didn't find it in a load book and may very well be unsafe. Use at your own risk. Even at the higher velocity, my bore is always clean and shiny.

I love this mould and have gotten a lot of use out of it.

Almost forgot...a friend of mine shoots these through his entry-level Taurus 1911also. He loads 4.2gr of Bullseye for ~760fps...same OAL as what I shoot too.

Now that I got the leading issues taken care of in my pistol I shot 40 rounds and liked the results. Should be a good bullet.

What nose punch do you use for this bullet in a lyman 450?

Yea it shot low for me in my HI Point too but it has adjustable rear sights so I just raised the rear sight.

I was thinking of loading some for my Uberti 45 Colt before I shot them in the hi point since they do shoot low and my Uberti shoots fine with the 252 grain Lee SWC bullet I will pass since my Uberti is fixed sights but I will keep using this bullet in my H P .

This is to date my favorite in the the 45 ACP. I works great in all my 1911's, full sized and compacts. I like this boolit for my SIG and XD as well. Very good accuracy, and it feeds great. I used to shoot the the Lee 200 SWC (this boolit was never a good feeder but was a SWC, which I wanted), but now use the RNF. Use a little NRA in the grease groove if you go over 800 FPS, LLA only, gives up the ghost as you go over this velocity.

I use it and like it in front of 6 grains of unique.

Fellows,

I bought some of the Carolina Cast bullets ( Lee 200 RNFP ) and resized them to .452 and relubed with light LLA. They were seated to approx 1.230. Out of 25 rds, I had about 3 that wouldn't chamber all the way. I saved one and examined it when I got home. In seating the bullet, I shaved a little lead and apparently that was why that particular bullet wouldn't seat, I guess.

I have just finished loading 30 rds ( 5.3 / 231 / WLP ) at 1.20 to 1.21. I ran 6 rds thru the gun as a test and they all chambered OK. The acid test will be at the range>

The pistol is a Para GI and using Shooting Star clips.

What COL are you guys using???

Thanks,

Gene

I've shot 1000's of these bullets cast from my lee 6-cavity mold.

I size them to .452 in a lyman 450 with a 190 top punch.

I seat mine to 1.175, in the crimp groove.

My favorite load with this bullet is 6.4g of universal clays. This load hit hard & I've never had a problem with it feeding/functioning in several different 1911's.

As already mentioned the 45-200-RF shoots fine in the 45 ACP out of M1911s and most other 45 ACPs. Conversely the Lee 45-195-SWC not only shoots fine out of my M1911s, M1917 revolver and M98 Mauser in .45 ACP but also out of both my 45 Colt Uberiti SAA's and my 2 rifles (Rossi with 24" barrel and Uberti M73). I was pleasantly surprised they fed in the M73 but that's a big gaping hole they slide into. I must say I mostly use the 45-200-RF in my revovlers and lever guns as the SWCs get some sideways glances..........

I only have issues with this bullet when my grips starts turning soft when I bullseye shoot. I run it at 1.160 pushed by 4.0 grs clays lit by a cci lp.

I seat mine around 1.175" as well, 5.7gr/W231 for near-factory perceived recoil in my Springfield XD45 5" and Colt 1991 custom.
