Thinking of using a steel trap to catch my 45-70 sharps boolits. What would be the min. thickness I can get away with? I'll be shooting mostly from 200 to 400yds.
Thanks

That close 1/2 inch is about what it'll take to keep from continually rebuilding it.
You likely won't get many bullets back either, just the dimes and some lead dust.
If you want to recover bullets you'll need to shoot into sand or wet sawdust.

Never tried so dont know....but would think at least a 1/2" as stated above ...angled back maybe 45 degrees and how about a sand filled trough for the bullets to land into??

They are a tough catch.
