I am looking for a mold for a cannon that is 1 5/8 in diameter. Anyone know where I could get a mold for these?

Would be a whale of a lit of lead for a single shot, wastefull in my opinion. Think I would be inclined to go witha projectile other than lead. Just my opinion.

That is a big slab of lead ! I have a cannon with a 1-1/4" bore. I also was looking for a mold, until someone mentioned the pressures involved with pushing that heavy of a projectile.
My cannon has 7/8" walls but i still wonder about the thing splitting.:-|

what is the dia. of golf balls? pour some lead into some holes drilled in the ball.

If you can locate a mold - cast the cannon ball with ZINC. Just one approach.

I like that idea. Nothing better to do with the zinc any how.

Some folks use concrete plugs for cannon ammo.

Do a search of threads for "cannon" I am sure some one had posted something but I think his father had made the mold?

Start your search at the address of several of the commercial cannon or mortar manufacturers and suppliers, not at the address of small bore casting experts.

The twelve ounce weight is right at 1.54 inches across, so it will work. I will be using my zinc WW's to cast these. Any advice on casting with Zinc? Should I use a differnent pot than the one I use for melting my Lead? I really don't want to contaminate my pot with Zinc. I am using a Cast Iron pot for my WW's, will it ruin my pot?
