A friend of mine (yes I have a few) is searching for plinker loads for his .450. I offered up some of my Lee 255 RNFP to try. However, out of the few loading books I have, the lightest boolit is a 293 grainer. He is currently using 300 gr j-words w/ reloader 7.

Anyone have a starting load for this wt boolit or be able to point me to a manual that has these lighter loads?

Are the Lee boolits .457 or .452? The 450 marlin uses .457, and I found the best accuracy at as close to .460 as possible.

If you have some .457+ 255 gr boolits, I would start at 300 grain starting loads. Or use the 70% trail boss loads. If the boolits are .452 or .454, I would be prepared for some leading to occur.

Thanks for the info. Mine are dropping at .454. I will get him to slug the barrel before trying any.
