I have been considering using the 38 special Hornady Bullet feeder die only for the 9MM cast bullet..For my needs can see buying more than just the die. See cautions not to use with cast bullets, considering some of the soft lubes that makes sense.

If you have the 38 special hornady bullet feeder die could you drop a 9MM cast bullet in the die only? Would like to know if it falls into a flared out case.

Thanks

I can't help you with your question but a lot of the "not for cast bullets" part is that they won't work in many of the collators despite working in the feeders.

I would think that part of it also lies in the fact that we all size boolits differently. They have different collets for 0.356" and 0.358". If we size 0.360" for a 357, we probably couldn't use their 357 die.

I asked Hornady about a week ago about using different collets and one die body. No response yet.

i called earlier today and could not get a part number for just the collets. I would guess the 38 special could be used for the oversized 9 MM . Maybe use the 44 special for the 40 s&w . just a guess have never seen any of these. Tempted to just spend the money and buy all three. 9 mm ,357 and .401

thanks for adding the link westwindmike

I hope the videos helped on the question if you can use lead bullets in hornady bullet feeder die, if so how to do it.
The only thing i need to add is i dont use a real soft/sticky lube, so you and others will have to add how it works with softer lubes, if you go with my type of bullet feeder tube system.

Last i am going to be doing some testing on the new RCBS bullet feeder die, i have one coming, i will let you know if it works, or not...either way people can know for sure

mag44uk, with 41 cal being around .410 or so, thats alot to sand and polish of the collets on the 40 cal bullet feeder die, i do know there a good amount of material (thickness wish) on the collects...if your machanical and use the right sanding stone and polishing stones with a dremel, you may get it to work...i have only done 9mm, 40cal., and 45 cal. on the hornady bullet feeder dies....if i had a 41 cal myself i would try, but i dont... i say just get one of the 40 cal and try.....if you do let everyone know what your out come is..
